Sensory Hour

Sensory Hour

To those people who have autism spectrum conditions, sensory, or additional needs, a visit to a shopping centre can be daunting. To support them, The Elmsleigh Centre runs a ‘Sensory Hour’ in their main areas every Monday from 10am to 11am.

Sensory Hours enable shoppers to access and use the shopping centre in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Steps are taken in-centre to reduce noise, including music, tannoy messages/PR announcements; by dimming lighting; and minimising other visual distractions where possible.

We hope that our retailers join in with this initiative in whatever ways they can, but we advise that you contact them directly to find out about their specific provision.

If you have any questions or suggestions on this scheme, please do not hesitate to contact us.
