Elmsleigh raise £5.5k for local charitable causes
The local community and visitors to Elmsleigh Shopping Centre helped to raise a brilliant £5.5k for charitable causes in the lead up to Christmas.
Santa was in-centre for ‘meet and greet’ sessions, with donations welcomed in aid of Spelthorne Guide Dogs and this raised £2,300, whilst the ever-popular annual charity gift wrap brought in a total of £3,200. This was donated to six deserving locally-based charities.
Commenting on this festive initiative, Kam Purewal, Marketing Manager said:
‘Christmas at the Elmsleigh Centre is always a special occasion, with us welcoming a range of loyal customers and new shoppers every year. The little ones love to visit Santa and people of all ages come in to see our beautiful Christmas decorations whilst doing their shopping and meeting with friends and family for coffee and a bite to eat. We have always found that our gift-wrapping service is extremely busy, with people welcoming the chance to tick one job off their ‘to do’ list!
Our customers tend to like the fact that we are raising money for local charities so that the community can benefit. We were so heartened to see how much was raised, particularly at a time when budgets can be tight. We would like to express a huge thank you to everybody who got involved.’
Alex Rennie, Corporate Relationship Manager at Shooting Star Chase, one of the charity beneficiaries, said:
‘We have been blown away by the generosity of the Elmsleigh Centre customers. Thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers, from local company Ensono, the 2018 Elmsleigh Christmas gift wrapping service raised an incredible £1,330. These funds will help Shooting Star Chase make every moment count for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. Our sincere thanks go to the Elmsleigh Centre, Ensono and to everyone who brought their gifts along.’
