Staines Shopmobility is an independent, registered charity located opposite the Vue Cinema in Staines. It enables people recovering from temporary illness or injury through to permanent mobility problems, to become mobile and attain a higher degree of independence once more. Membership is open to anyone with limited mobility and you do not need to be registered as disabled or a blue badge holder.
The service loans manual wheelchairs, electric scooters and powered wheelchairs to enable access to shops, banks and many other services in the town centre. It is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am until 4.15pm and membership is available on a daily or annual basis. Valid identification is required when registering to use the service. Contact Shopmobility on 01784 459416 or visit www.stainesshopmobility.co.uk to find out more.
Since 2007 the Elmsleigh Centre has supported Staines Shopmobility with its work by way of an annual grant towards its running costs. This has helped the service to remain open and enabled visitors to fully access all the Elmsleigh Centre has to offer. This has shown the Elmsleigh Centre’s willingness to invest in the local community, support disadvantaged community groups and to make Staines a modern, accessible town for all.
